Artist Statement

I am a perpetual student of painting; it is my source of flow. I am inspired by impressionism, but don’t consider myself truly impressionist. I am also inspired by Tom Thompson’s style of paint application. I try to capture convincing elements from as few natural strokes as possible, and am learning to accept the marks that I make; I love Canada, the Montreal Canadiens, and being a Gemini. Recently my studies in landscape design and architecture have given a graphics flare to my paintings. I hope to retire to a cottage on a lake where I can cook good food, kiss my girl and paint every day.
